Native English teachers for language centers
Native English teachers for language centers, hagwons and training centers: before you meet anyone, Meridian Teachers, a teacher recruitment agency, confirms they are happy with your hours and your classes.
What does a language center need from an ESL teacher?
A language center needs ESL teachers who are happy with its hours, have taught the same ages and courses it runs, and can work from its course books and syllabus. We check each of those points before a teacher reaches you.
Teachers who are happy with your hours
Afternoon, evening and weekend classes are normal at a language center. We confirm every teacher wants those hours before you meet them.
The right ages, young learners to adults
Tell us who sits in your classes. We look for teachers who have taught that age group, whether that means six-year-olds after school or professionals before work.
Exam and specialist courses
IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge exams, business English, phonics or conversation classes. Tell us what you run and we'll look for teachers who have taught it.
Why schools choose Meridian Teachers
Schools choose Meridian Teachers because we send a short list of teachers who fit the role and have told us they want it, then book the interviews around your timetable. See all six reasons and how a search works.
- 2,500+ teacher profiles
- 1,500+ native English speakers

1,600+ teachers of English and ESL
Meridian Teachers holds 2,500+ teacher profiles, and 1,600+ of those teachers teach English and ESL. The typical teacher has 5+ years in the classroom, and 1 in 4 has 10 or more. Between them they have taught early childhood (800+), primary (1,400+) and secondary (1,350+) classes, and 1,700+ hold a TEFL, TESOL or CELTA.
Language centers posted 36% of the teaching roles in the Q3 2026 edition of our Teacher Hiring Report, as many as private schools. The next section shows what those roles asked for and offered. The full report and English Teacher Salaries in Asia have more.

What language center roles asked for this season
Language center job posts in the Q3 2026 edition talked about hours and ages as much as about qualifications, so this section shows all of it.
- More than half of language center roles (56%) covered more than one age group, and about 1 in 10 were for adult classes.
- About 1 in 4 roles (26%) mentioned weekend or evening classes. Where a role stated weekly teaching hours, the middle half ran from 18 to 30 hours, with 24 the median.
- 64% asked for a native English speaker, 54% for a degree and 20% for a TEFL, TESOL or CELTA. 18% asked for a set amount of teaching experience, about half of them for one year.
- Among language center roles that listed benefits, 54% included housing, 43% paid leave, 42% health insurance and 35% visa or work permit support.
Of the 1,600+ English and ESL teachers in our pool, 1,350+ have two or more years in the classroom, 1,200+ hold a TEFL, TESOL or CELTA, 650+ have taught adults, 600+ have taught both children and adults, 300+ have taught exam preparation such as IELTS or TOEFL, and 850+ have already taught in Asia.

Will the teachers work evenings and weekends?
Yes, if that is what the role needs. About 1 in 4 language center roles this season mentioned weekend or evening classes, so it is a common part of the job. Every teacher on your shortlist has told us your hours suit them, and we confirm that before we introduce anyone.

Do your ESL teachers hold a TEFL or CELTA?

Can we hire for kids' classes and adult classes at the same time?
Yes. Send both roles in one request and we shortlist for each one separately.
How many teachers can you recruit for one center?
One or several. Tell us how many teachers you need and when each should start, and we shortlist for every role.
How many teaching hours a week do language centers schedule?
Where a language center role stated weekly teaching hours in Q3 2026, the middle half ran from 18 to 30 hours, with 24 the median. We only introduce teachers who are happy with your timetable.
Do your ESL teachers have experience with adult learners?
Yes. 650+ of the English and ESL teachers in our pool have taught adults, 600+ have taught both children and adults, and 300+ have taught exam preparation such as IELTS or TOEFL. We shortlist for the learners in your classes, whether children, adults or both.
